STATEMENT: President Simeon-Okraku congratulates Black Starlets on WAFU B U17 Success

On behalf of the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association and the entire football fraternity, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the management, technical team, and gallant players of the Black Starlets for their remarkable performance at the 2025 WAFU B U17 Boys Championship in Côte d’Ivoire.

Though the final did not end the way we wanted after a penalty shootout defeat to the host nation, you displayed exceptional character, teamwork, and determination throughout the tournament.

Your qualification for the U17 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco is a significant milestone and a proud moment for our country, marking Ghana’s return to the continental stage after an eight-year absence.

This achievement is a clear reflection of the GFA’s vision of “Fixing the Fundamentals” and “Power to the Youth.”

Our continuous and systematic investment in youth and colts football is beginning to show tangible results, and your performance is a shining example of the progress being made at the foundation level of our football development structure.

I commend Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum and his technical team for their tactical ingenuity, leadership, and dedication in nurturing and guiding this promising generation of players.

To the young men who represented our nation with pride — you have made Ghana proud. Your resilience and commitment embody the true Ghanaian spirit of excellence and perseverance.

The GFA remains steadfast in its commitment to providing the necessary support and resources as you prepare for the AFCON. With hard work, focus, and unity of purpose, this team has the potential to achieve even greater success and restore Ghana’s dominance in youth football on the African continent.

Congratulations once again to the entire Black Starlets family — management, technical team, and players. You have inspired the nation and rekindled belief in the bright future of Ghana football.

Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku
(President, Ghana Football Association, CAF 2nd Vice President)
