President Edwin Simeon-Okraku FA announces record GHC2 million prize for 2025/26 Premier League Winners

The President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, has announced a record cash prize of GHC2 million for the winners of the upcoming 2025/26 Ghana Premier League (GPL) season.

The announcement was made during the 31st Ordinary Congress of the GFA, held on Tuesday at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, where delegates gathered to deliberate on key matters ahead of the new season.

According to the President, the new prize structure is designed to reward excellence and boost competitiveness across the league. The top fifteen clubs will all receive financial rewards based on their final league positions, with significant sums allocated to the top finishers.

The runners-up will receive GHC1 million, third place will earn GHC800,000 and fourth place GHC750,000. The remaining positions from fifth to fifteenth will also benefit from substantial payouts, ensuring that clubs across the league are incentivized to push for higher finishes.

Full 2025/26 GPL Prize Breakdown:

1st: GHC2,000,000

2nd: GHC1,000,000

3rd: GHC800,000

4th: GHC750,000

5th: GHC700,000

6th: GHC650,000

7th: GHC600,000

8th: GHC550,000

9th: GHC500,000

10th: GHC450,000

11th: GHC400,000

12th: GHC350,000

13th: GHC300,000

14th: GHC250,000

15th: GHC200,000

The 2025/26 Premier League season is scheduled to kick off on September 12, with clubs already gearing up for what promises to be one of the most competitive campaigns in recent history.

The President emphasized that the enhanced prize structure is part of the GFA’s broader strategy to elevate the league’s commercial appeal, improve club sustainability and motivate teams to deliver top-level performances throughout the season.
