POWER TO THE YOUTH: Salifu Fatawu Appointed Head Coach of Ghana U-15 Boys Team
SHARE

Experienced trainer Salifu Fatawu has been appointed as the new head coach of the national U-15 boys’ team. Fatawu brings with him a rich coaching background, having led Kpando Heart of Lions to qualification into the Ghana Premier League from the Division One League.

His national team experience is equally impressive. He served as assistant coach to Karim Zito when the Black Satellites clinched the U-20 WAFU Championship in Benin in 2020 and went on to win the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Mauritania in 2021. He also worked closely with Desmond Ofei during his tenure with the team.

Salifu Fatawu will be assisted by former Asante Kotoko skipper and current Heart of Lions deputy coach, Daniel Nii Adjei, while Mubarak Gardo, head coach of Thought FC, will serve as the Athletic Coach. Together, they form the nucleus of a technical team tasked with nurturing Ghana’s next generation of football stars.

Other members of the technical setup include Raphael Tommy as Welfare Officer, Issah Abdullah as Equipment Officer, Dr. Akwasi Duah as Team Doctor, and Solomon Adu as Physiotherapist.

This newly constituted team is expected to provide the right balance of experience, technical know-how, and support services to accelerate the development of the U-15 squad.

The appointment also forms part of the FA’s broader strategy of strengthening youth football structures to ensure a steady supply of talent for the Black Starlets and ultimately the senior national team.
