POWER TO THE YOUTH: GFA Harmonizes U-15 Boys and Girls Teams into Single National Units
SHARE

In a major restructuring of the juvenile football system, a decision has been reached to merge the existing U-15 national teams into one unit each for both boys and girls.

Until now, we had two separate U-15 national teams for both categories — the Schools U-15 Boys and Girls teams run by the Association in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the National U-15 Boys and Girls teams under the full organization and supervision of the FA. Each group had its own management and technical staff, operating independently.

The new policy direction will see the creation of one unified U-15 boys team and one unified U-15 girls team, streamlining talent identification, technical development, and management. This initiative is expected to eliminate duplication of resources and ensure that the most talented players are harnessed through a single structured pathway.

The harmonization will enhance efficiency, foster stronger collaboration with schools, and provide better development opportunities for young players across the country. The move is also in line with FIFA and CAF’s grassroots football development vision.

This restructuring marks an important step in strengthening Ghana’s youth football system. With the new arrangement, the U-15 teams will serve as the foundation for progression into the U-17 national sides, ensuring a more consistent and well-coordinated talent pipeline.
