Ivory Coast will host the much-anticipated WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship from September 20 to October 3, 2025, in Yamoussoukro. The tournament will bring together seven West African nations in a contest that promises to showcase the best of the region’s budding football talent.

The participating countries include Ghana, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Togo, Benin, Niger, and hosts Ivory Coast, all of whom will be vying for qualification slots to the 2025 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The competition is expected to serve as a key platform for the discovery of future stars who could rise through the ranks to represent their nations at the senior level.

Yamoussoukro, the political capital of Ivory Coast, is preparing to host the tournament in what officials say will be a celebration of youth football and regional unity. With modern sporting facilities in place, the city is set to welcome thousands of fans, officials, and scouts eager to witness the next generation of African football talent.

The tournament carries high stakes as it doubles as the qualification route to the U-17 AFCON, where only the best-performing teams from across the continent will compete. Coaches and technical teams from the participating nations are already fine-tuning preparations to ensure their squads are in top shape ahead of the event.

The WAFU Zone B Championship has a rich history of producing world-class players who later shine on the global stage. Football lovers across West Africa will be keeping a close eye on the matches in Yamoussoukro, hoping to catch a glimpse of the region’s next big stars.
