The draw for the maiden edition of the MTN Elite Under-19 Championship has been successfully conducted at the headquarters of the Football Association in Accra, setting the stage for one of the most anticipated youth football tournaments in the country.

Ten Regional Football Association (RFA) U-19 teams have been placed into two groups of five for the inaugural edition of the second-division youth competition.

In Group A, the Northern Region will face tough competition from Upper West, Brong Ahafo, Eastern and Western Region. Meanwhile, Group B features Greater Accra, Ashanti, Central, Volta and Upper East Region,  promising a thrilling set of matchups.

The draw, held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, took place on the sidelines of the official launch of the MTN Elite U-19 Championship at the GFA headquarters.

Set to kick off from October 23 to November 2, 2025, at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, the 11-day tournament will serve as a showcase of Ghana’s brightest young football talents. The competition will offer a platform for emerging players to display their skills, gain technical experience, and attract attention from national youth team selectors and professional clubs.

Proudly sponsored by MTN Ghana, the Elite U-19 Championship represents a cornerstone of the GFA’s youth development vision, an initiative aimed at unearthing, nurturing and elevating young footballers from the grassroots level.

Beyond talent discovery, the competition is designed to instill key sporting values such as discipline, teamwork, leadership and perseverance, essential ingredients for building the next generation of Ghanaian football stars.

The MTN Elite U-19 Championship is part of the GFA’s wider “Power to the Youth” agenda, reinforcing the Football Association’s commitment to structured youth development and the creation of sustainable pathways for aspiring footballers nationwide.
