The 2025 Champion of Champions match between Bibiani GoldStars and Asante Kotoko will be played on Sunday, August 31, 2025.

The much-anticipated fixture will serve as the ceremonial curtain-raiser for the 2025/26 football season.

Bibiani GoldStars, the surprise winners of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League, will face MTN FA Cup champions Asante Kotoko in what promises to be an electrifying clash. The Champion of Champions is traditionally contested by the winners of the two major domestic competitions; the Premier League and the MTN FA Cup, and it’s regarded as a prestigious honour to kickstart the new season.

The match is being planned by a five-member committee led by seasoned football administrator Dr. Tony Aubyn. The committee is overseeing all aspects of the event, including venue, ticketing, security, and fan experience, with the aim of delivering a memorable and well-organized spectacle.

This year’s edition will draw significant interest from fans and stakeholders alike, especially as it marks GoldStars’ debut appearance in the Champion of Champions.

The team from Bibiani stunned the nation by clinching their first-ever league title and will now look to further cement their rise with a silverware against seasoned opponents, Asante Kotoko.

For Asante Kotoko, the fixture offers another opportunity to assert their dominance on the local scene after lifting the FA Cup earlier this year. The Porcupine Warriors are eager to reclaim their status as the top club in Ghana and see this encounter as the perfect springboard into the new campaign.
