Rajasthan Royals’ teenage batting prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi had a special moment on Friday, May 30, as he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his family at the Patna airport.

The 14-year-old made headlines during IPL 2025 with a blistering 35-ball century against Gujarat Titans, making him the youngest player ever to score a hundred in the tournament’s history. In a remarkable debut season, Vaibhav accumulated 252 runs across seven matches, maintaining an outstanding strike rate of 206.56.

His incredible journey began when he debuted for the Royals against Lucknow Super Giants at just 14 years and 23 days — the youngest player to feature in an IPL match. Just over a week later, he delivered a breathtaking knock of 100 off 35 balls versus Gujarat, setting a new record for the fastest IPL century by an Indian and the second-fastest overall. He ended his season with a composed 57 from 33 deliveries against Chennai Super Kings, showcasing maturity well beyond his years.

Prime Minister Modi acknowledged Vaibhav’s rapid rise in the sport with a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), where he shared photos of their meeting.

ā€œAt Patna airport, met the young cricketing sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi and his family. His cricketing skills are being admired all over the nation! My best wishes to him for his future endeavours,ā€ the PM wrote.

After his stellar IPL stint, Vaibhav has been named in India’s U19 squad for the upcoming tour of England, beginning June 24. The series features one warm-up match, five Youth ODIs, and two Youth Test matches.
