WAFU B U17 BOYS: Dr. Ogum Names Strong Starting XI to Face Nigeria in Semi-Final Clash

Black Starlets head coach, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, has announced a strong starting line-up for Ghana’s crucial semi-final clash against Nigeria in the WAFU Zone B U17 Boys Championship. The highly anticipated encounter is set for Tuesday evening at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro.

Dr. Ogum has made just one change to the side that secured a 3-1 victory over Niger in the final group match. Hakeem Kasim drops to the bench, with Clement Agyei coming in to partner Robinho Yao Gavi in attack. The rest of the squad remains unchanged, a signal of the coach’s confidence in his side’s recent performance.

Goalkeeper Solomon Kesse retains his place between the posts and will be shielded by a backline of Mujahid Osman, Kingsley Fosu, Rashoidan Yakubu, and Gabriel Denyinah. In midfield, the quartet of Augustine Appiah, Michael Awuli, Mark Kagawa Mensah, and skipper Joseph Narbi will look to control the game and dictate the tempo against a strong Nigerian side.

Up front, the combination of Clement Agyei and in-form striker Robinho Yao Gavi is expected to provide Ghana with attacking firepower. Gavi, who netted twice against Niger, remains a key figure in the Starlets’ quest for qualification to the U17 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco next year.

The stakes are high as the winner of this fixture not only advances to the tournament’s grand finale but also secures automatic qualification to the continental showpiece. With both teams boasting rich history and rivalry, fans are expecting an electrifying contest under the floodlights.

Kick-off is at 7:00 p.m. GMT at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium.
