Virat Kohli has reacted after several former players commented on the stampede incident, which reportedly claimed 11 lives and injured 47 others.

On his Instagram account, Kohli wrote: ā€œAt a loss for words. Absolutely gutted.ā€

Just last night, Kohli and his teammates were overjoyed as they ended their 18-year wait and finally achieved IPL glory. Who would have thought at the time that something so tragic could unfold the very next day? A day meant for joy, celebration, and pride has now become one of grief in the history of cricket.

RCB shared an official statement on the whole situation

Thousands of fans gathered near Vidhana Soudha to join the celebration. People were waving flags and holding banners, excited to catch a glimpse of their favourite players. The celebration began after the players met Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM.

Following this, the team boarded an open-top bus for a victory parade from Vidhana Soudha to the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, where a grand event had been planned. However, the crowd grew too large and difficult to manage. In the chaos and confusion, a stampede occurred, leading to numerous injuries and fatalities.

Official Statement from Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) said: ā€œWe are deeply anguished by the unfortunate incidents that have come to light through media reports regarding public gatherings across Bengaluru in anticipation of the team’s arrival this afternoon. The safety and well-being of everyone is of utmost importance to us. RCB mourns the tragic loss of lives and extends our heartfelt condolences to the affected families. Immediately upon being made aware of the situation, we promptly amended our programme and followed the guidance and advice of the local administration. We urge all our supporters to please stay safe.ā€
