Virat Kohli scored an unbeaten 139 from 88 deliveries in India’s first ODI against West Indies at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday, September 27. The knock contained 10 fours and 9 sixes and was his 55th ODI century. In the same innings, Kohli crossed 15,000 runs in ODI cricket, a landmark that only Sachin Tendulkar had reached before him in the history of the format.

IShowSpeed watched highlights of Kohli’s innings and questioned how many centuries the batter had accumulated, describing a hundred as a routine event for him. His brother joined the conversation during the stream and asked whether Kohli would want to meet IShowSpeed in return. IShowSpeed remained open to the idea after putting the question to his audience.

“How many centuries does Virat Kohli even have bro? That’s just like a regular thing for him. That’s like every year Virat Kohli has a century. That’s who, that’s who I gotta meet.” Speed said during the live-streaming.

India chased down West Indies‘ total of 296 by eight wickets. Shubman Gill contributed 110 to a dominant partnership with Kohli that settled the match well before the final overs. Earlier, Kuldeep Yadav had taken 4 wickets for 40 runs to restrict the visitors to a chaseable target.

The innings drew attention far beyond the cricket community. Popular YouTuber IShowSpeed reacted to Kohli’s century during a livestream, expressing clear admiration for the Indian batter and declaring that Kohli was someone he needed to meet.

How did Virat Kohli’s innings shape the result of the first ODI?

The Caribbean side posted 295 for 7 in the series opener, a competitive total that required India to bat with purpose from the outset. Kuldeep’s four-wicket haul had kept the visitors from posting a larger score, and the pitch offered enough for the bowlers to stay in the contest.

Kohli and Gill removed any doubt about the chase with a partnership that combined power and precision. Gill’s 110 gave India a solid platform, and Kohli’s unbeaten 139 from 88 deliveries carried the side to an eight-wicket win with runs to spare. The century was Kohli’s 55th in the format, and he arrived in the same innings in which he moved past 15,000 ODI runs, cementing his place among the most prolific run-scorers the format has seen.
