Jerry Jones’ Dallas Cowboys suffered a 33-30 overtime loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. George Pickens caught two of four targets for 48 yards and played 42 of Dallas’ 74 offensive snaps, a 57% share that trailed Ryan Flournoy (50 snaps, 68%). CeeDee Lamb drew 11 targets. Dallas ran 39 times for 93 yards.
Pickens’ lesser usage didn’t sit well with Cowboys fans and the NFL world in general. Jones also did not dispute the premise. Asked on “105.3 The Fan” about Pickens’ quiet afternoon, the Cowboys owner and general manager said the receiver “needs the ball coming his way more,” and blamed a run-first plan.
