Asante Kotoko delivered a resounding a 4-1 victory over Dreams FC at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, while the battle for survival intensified with key wins for Karela United and Vision FC in match week 31 of the Premier League.

Poku Stars in Kotoko rout

Kwame Poku was the star of the show in Kumasi, scoring a brace to help Asante Kotoko maintain their place in fourth with a dominant performance. Albert Amoah opened the scoring for the Porcupine Warriors in the 16th minute before Poku doubled the lead shortly after.

Dreams FC briefly threatened a comeback when Jonathan Nemoredeen pulled one back, but Poku’s second goal in the 61st minute restored Kotoko’s two-goal cushion. Fernando Bassey added the icing on the cake with a well-taken fourth to seal a comprehensive win for the hosts. Kotoko now sit on 54 points with three matches remaining.

Karela United climb out of Drop Zone

In the relegation dogfight, Karela United secured a vital 3-1 home win over Medeama SC to move out of the bottom three. Malik Abubakar led the charge with a brace, while Ali Alhassan added the third to hand the struggling side a much-needed lifeline. Medeama managed a consolation through Godknows Dzakpasu but continued their poor form on the road.

Wayo Fires Hearts to narrow win

Hearts of Oak edged Berekum Chelsea 1-0 at the Golden City Park thanks to a 57th-minute strike from Mawuli Wayo. The win pushes the Phobians up to fifth, five points adrift of the top four, while Chelsea drop to 10th.

Basake Holy Stars waste chance in stalemate

Basake Holy Stars missed a golden opportunity to claim all three points at home against third-placed Heart of Lions, as star man Prince Tweneboah squandered a penalty in the 67th minute. The goalless draw at the AAK Ampain Arena keeps Holy Stars 12th on 37 points, while the Lions continue their strong campaign with another solid defensive display.

Samartex Edge Bechem United

FC Samartex 1996 continued their impressive home form with a 2-1 victory over Bechem United. Baba Musah opened the scoring for the Timber giants, helping them climb to sixth place in the table. Bechem now sit eighth after the defeat.

Vision FC Keep Survival Hopes Alive

Debutants Vision FC earned a crucial 2-0 win over fellow newcomers Young Apostles FC in a titanic survival clash. Second-half goals from Edmond Asante and Emmanuel Kyei Baffour proved decisive in the hard-fought encounter. The win lifts Vision to 14th with 36 points, just one behind Apostles, who occupy 13th.

With just three games to go, the title race and relegation battle promise a dramatic conclusion to an already thrilling season.
