POWER TO THE YOUTH: Maxwell Konadu Appointed Head Coach of Black Satellites
SHARE

Former Black Galaxies head coach Maxwell Konadu has been named the new head coach of the Black Satellites, Ghana’s U-20 national team. He replaces Desmond Ofei, who previously led the side.

Konadu brings a wealth of experience to the role, having managed several top-flight clubs in the Ghana Premier League. His coaching résumé includes stints with Asante Kotoko, Eleven Wonders, Legon Cities, and most recently Nsoatreman FC. Among his career highlights, he guided Kotoko to the Ghana Premier League title in 2012 and won the President’s Cup in 2019.

On the continental stage, Konadu has twice led the Black Galaxies to glory in the WAFU Championship, first in 2013 and again in 2017. He further underlined his pedigree by masterminding Nsoatreman FC’s historic triumph in the 2023/24 MTN FA Cup.

His national team experience also stands out, having previously served as assistant coach of the Black Stars under both Akwasi Appiah and former Chelsea manager Avram Grant. This new role with the Black Satellites marks another chapter in his long-standing contribution to Ghanaian football.

Konadu will be assisted by Nations FC deputy coach Johnson Smith and Dreams FC head coach Winfred Dormon. The newly constituted technical team also includes Kelvin Agyemang, who will serve as Goalkeepers Coach.

Below is the full list of the new Black Satellites technical team.

The appointment of Maxwell Konadu is expected to bring renewed energy and tactical direction to the Black Satellites as Ghana continues to build competitive youth teams for the future.
