Power to the Youth: GFA presents medals, plagues and trophies to RFAs to support Colts football

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has presented medals, plaques, and trophies to the ten Regional Football Associations (RFAs) to honour winners of the 2024–25 juvenile league season.

President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku led the presentation alongside Vice-President Mark Addo and Executive Council members Nana Sarfo Oduro and Kingsley Osei Bonsu. The items were received by the Chairmen of the ten RFAs in a show of continued collaboration and investment in youth football.

The donated items, provided by the KGL Foundation, include thirty (30) medals each (gold and silver) for the winners and runners-up of all ten Regional Colts Championships, as well as the Northern Region and Greater Accra Girls Colts Championships. In total, 720 medals were distributed.

Additionally, 24 commemorative plaques were presented to recognize outstanding individual performances, including the Player of the Tournament and Top Scorer in each of the ten Boys Colts Championships, and the Girls Championships in the Greater Accra and Northern Regions.

This initiative is part of the GFA’s broader “Power to the Youth” agenda, a comprehensive policy framework aimed at making youth football a cornerstone of national football development.

Over the past five years, through the generous support of the KGL Group, the GFA has implemented a range of transformative programs to strengthen football at the grassroots level.

These transformative initiatives include but not limited to the revival of Colts football nationwide, implementation of the FIFA Talent Development Scheme (FIFA TDS), introduction of Ghana’s first three Elite Football Academies, creation of additional age-specific national teams to ensure age-appropriate competition and development, investment in the Catch Them Young Refereeing Policy, aimed at developing young match officials and the provision of free coaching education for 900 Colts coaches across the country, amongst others.

Together, these programs have laid a strong foundation for the identification, grooming and elevation of young talent.

The GFA remains committed to investing in young talent and creating pathways for future stars of Ghanaian football, ensuring that the spirit of the game thrives across all regions of the country.
