The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced an ambitious expansion of its youth football development agenda, introducing a series of new competitions and festivals aimed at strengthening the foundation of the game for both boys and girls across the country.

Speaking at the 31st Ordinary Session of Congress at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku reaffirmed that grassroots development remains a strategic priority for the Association, forming the bedrock of Ghana’s future football success.

“The Football Association remains firmly committed to developing football from the grassroots. Youth football development, both for boys and girls, remains a strategic priority and the foundation of our future success.” President Simeon-Okraku emphasised.

As part of this renewed push, the GFA will roll out a comprehensive calendar of competitions, including:

Inter-District U-15 Girls Festival (new)

Inter-District U-15 Boys Festival (continuing)

Inter-District U-17 Girls Festival (new)

Inter-District U-17 Boys Festival (new)

Girls U-15 Inter-Regional Challenge Cup (continuing)

National U-15 Boys Cup (continuing)

KGL U-17 National Championship (continuing)

National U-17 Girls Challenge Cup (new)

Elite U-19 Boys Tournament (Pilot) (new)

Each Regional Football Association (RFA) will be mandated to organise these competitions within their jurisdiction, ensuring that every region actively participates in identifying, developing and showcasing young talent.

“These initiatives reaffirm our commitment to youth development, capacity enhancement and the sustainable growth of Ghana Football at all levels.” President Simeon- Okraku added.

The Football Association is laying the groundwork for a more inclusive, well-structured and talent-rich football ecosystem, one capable of producing the next generation of stars for both domestic and international football.
