Medeama SC were officially crowned champions of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League on Wednesday night following a spirited 2-1 comeback victory over Basake Holy Stars in a colourful coronation ceremony at the TnA Stadium in Tarkwa.

In front of a packed and jubilant home crowd, the newly crowned champions marked their historic achievement in style as goals from Prince Owusu and substitute Derrick Fordjour secured victory to cap an unforgettable season for the Mauve and Yellow.

Having sealed their second-ever Ghana Premier League title with a game to spare before the conclusion of the campaign last Sunday, the coronation encounter offered Medeama supporters the perfect opportunity to celebrate their club’s remarkable achievement in grand fashion.

The TnA Stadium came alive with excitement as thousands of passionate fans turned up to witness the official crowning of their champions, creating an electric atmosphere befitting a memorable occasion in Tarkwa.

The match itself delivered entertaining football, with Basake Holy Stars providing stern resistance in an intensely contested encounter. After an evenly fought first half, both sides went into the break level, setting up an exciting finish to the evening.

Medeama, however, returned from the interval with renewed intensity and greater attacking purpose. Prince Owusu restored belief before substitute Derrick Fordjour emerged the hero, netting the decisive goal to complete the comeback and hand the hosts a deserved 2-1 victory.

At the final whistle, scenes of jubilation engulfed the stadium as players, technical staff, and supporters celebrated a title-winning campaign defined by consistency, resilience, and attacking brilliance.

Representing the Ghana Football Association, Executive Council member Samuel Aboabire presented medals to the triumphant players and technical team before officially handing over the coveted Ghana Premier League trophy to captain and club officials amid wild celebrations from the home supporters.

The coronation marked the perfect ending to a remarkable season for Medeama, who not only reclaimed domestic supremacy but also reaffirmed their growing stature in Ghana football.

Attention now turns to the continental stage, where Medeama will represent Ghana in the 2026/27 CAF Champions League.

The Tarkwa-based club will be eager to build on their previous impressive continental campaign, having reached the group stage of the competition during the 2023/24 season.
