Iga Swiatek is set to break with the past and kick off her 2027 season at the Brisbane International, a tournament she has never played before. Francisco Roig, the coach she appointed in April after her split with Wim Fissette, has shed light on the rationale behind the decision.
Swiatek ended her 2026 season after a left thigh injury hampered her during her loss to Maja Chwalinska in the Wuhan Open semifinals. She later pulled out of the Ningbo Open and concluded her season, explaining that she needed to rest and recover after “one of the most demanding seasons” of her career.
