Former tennis star Andrea Petkovic has brutally called out the racist attacks Coco Gauff faced after the China Open. Reacting to the incident, the German also slammed the WTA for refusing to provide official support to the World No. 5.
Earlier this month, Gauff was at the centre of a major controversy in the tennis world after her second-round match against Sun Xinran at the China Open. During her encounter against the 16-year-old, the American paused a rally midway through when she was distracted by flickering lights on the side panels. Many tennis enthusiasts treated the incident as an act of cheating by Gauff, and the third seed was subsequently subject to racist abuse from online trolls.
