Novak Djokovic recently sent an epic message about what still keeps him playing tennis. In light of his China Open win, the Serb opened up about his motivations and the responsibility that comes with being a ‘star player’.
Djokovic entered the 2026 China Open having gone unbeaten at the ATP 500 event throughout his career. The 39-year-old kicked off his campaign in Beijing with wins over Nuno Borges and Yunchaokete Bu, before outlasting World No. 2 Alexander Zverev in the quarterfinal. The 24-time Grand Slam champion followed this up with a triumph over Daniil Medvedev in the semifinal. He then went on to face Alex de Minaur in the summit clash, lifting the title after the Australian retired midway through the match.
