GLICO General Insurance LTD. (GLICO General) has reaffirmed its commitment to Ghana’s sports development and the welfare of national athletes with the presentation of a GH¢15 million Personal Accident Insurance Cover and cash support to the Black Stars and officials of the Ghana Football Association(GFA).

The Sportsman Insurance presentation, made as the Black Stars intensify preparations for the FIFA World Cup 2026, underscores GLICO General’s longstanding support for Ghana football and its belief in the importance of insurance protection for athletes, technical teams, officials, and support personnel representing the nation on the global stage.

The package was presented by the Managing Director of GLICO General, A. Achampong-Kyei, Esq, supported by the Chief Business Development Officer, Angela Asante and was received on behalf of the Ghana Football Association by the General Secretary, Prosper Harrison Addo, Esq.

“As our national team prepares to compete on the world stage, it is important that they do so with the confidence that they are protected. Insurance is not only about responding to unforeseen events; it is about providing peace of mind and enabling individuals to perform at their very best.” he said.

He further emphasized that the initiative aligns with GLICO General’s broader strategy of promoting insurance awareness and encouraging Ghanaians to embrace insurance as an essential tool for personal and financial protection.

As a member of the GLICO Group, GLICO General works alongside GLICO Life, GLICO Health, GLICO Pensions, GLICO Capital and GLICO Properties to provide comprehensive protection and financial security for individuals, families and businesses.

The company also used the occasion to encourage Ghanaians travelling to support the Black Stars during the World Cup to secure comprehensive travel insurance cover before embarking on their journeys. Travel insurance provides protection against medical emergencies, travel disruptions, baggage loss, and other unforeseen circumstances, ensuring travelers enjoy peace of mind
wherever they go.

As Ghana rallies behind the Black Stars on their road to the FIFA World Cup 2026, GLICO joins millions of Ghanaians in wishing the team every success: to the players, coaches, management, and support staff of the Black Stars, we say: Ayekoo!
