FIFA TDS Ghana: Undefeated Greater Accra Elite U-15 Girls Coach reveals secret to success as motivation and freedom

Greater Accra’s head coach, Rumanatu Tahiru, for the ongoing Elite U-15 girls Championship, has revealed the philosophy behind her team’s stunning, undefeated run in the FIFA Talent Identification Scheme. After securing a fifth consecutive victory, Coach Tahiru credited the team’s success not to a few star players but to a culture of hard work, discipline, and unwavering motivation.

“It’s just hard work,” Tahiru stated. “The girls have worked very hard through the weeks to prepare for this, and they stayed disciplined, and that is what is yielding the results right now.”

When pressed for the secret behind the team’s rapid development, the coach was clear: “The secret is motivation.” She emphasized a coaching style built on trust and empowerment, allowing her players the freedom to learn from their errors on the pitch.

“Let them believe in themselves. Let them know you, the coach, believe in them,” she explained. “Let them explore, make mistakes, and then you correct them. When you give them the freedom to make mistakes, they try to do a lot of things… and that’s the essence of the development.”

Despite the perfect record of five wins from five games, the team remains focused.

“We are not going to underrate our opponent. We go all in and then we take another win and then we look at the finals,” Tahiru said, adopting a game-by-game mentality.
