Ethan Bamber has signed a new three-year contract with Warwickshire County Cricket Club, keeping him at Edgbaston until the end of the 2029 season. The announcement came on October 9, 2026, following a 2026 Rothesay County Championship campaign in which Bamber finished as the competition’s leading wicket-taker.

Bamber took 69 wickets at an average of 19.39 across all 14 matches, bowling 445.3 overs in the process. His performances were central to Warwickshire claiming their ninth County Championship title. He was also awarded the ‘White Bear’, Warwickshire’s full county cap, midway through the 2026 campaign.

“It is very unusual to be in a professional environment where you feel so at home. I have found that here at Warwickshire and I am delighted to be able to commit my future to this wonderful club and to this incredibly special group of players. On and off the field we are judged and held accountable to how we show up each day. This approach embodies the values of the club and has created an environment where I can be myself. This has been a very special year for this group. I believe there is much more we can achieve together and I’m so excited to be part of that,” Bamber said, as quoted by Rayo UK.

What has Bamber contributed since joining Warwickshire?

Bamber joined Warwickshire ahead of the 2025 season, having previously represented Middlesex between 2018 and 2024. He made an immediate impression in his debut year at the club, finishing as the leading wicket-taker with 43 wickets. He also scored his maiden First Class hundred against Essex during that same season.

His 2026 tally of 69 wickets marked a significant step forward from his first year at Edgbaston, cementing his standing as one of the most consistent seamers in the Rothesay County Championship. The contract extension ensures Warwickshire retain a bowler who has been instrumental across both of their recent campaigns.

What did Warwickshire’s head coach say about the new deal?

The Warwickshire Head Coach Ian Westwood welcomed the contract extension, highlighting Bamber’s professional standards and his growing influence within the bowling attack.

“Ethan’s deserved every success he’s had this year and we’re delighted to agree a new deal with him. He works so hard, he’s the most diligent professional I’ve ever seen and worked with. He does everything he can, to get every ounce of ability he’s got out into the park and show it in a Bears’ shirt. He’s got a big heart and he’s bowled with so much skill this year, which is testament to his work ethic. He’s developed into a leader within our bowling attack and we hope to see him continue to improve and evolve in the years to come,” Westwood said via the aforementioned source.

“The retention of high performing players is a key part of our long-term squad building strategy. Keeping our core players together ensures continuity and helps develop our performance environment further. That’s what we need to stay competitive year after year and Ethan’s contract extension is another important step in using this season’s Championship victory as a springboard to for future success,” he added.
