Juan Soto did not need many words. The New York Mets star commented, “Did I tell you so or what?” on Instagram on Monday, the same day Freddy Peralta was named the 2026 American League Championship Series MVP.
Peralta, a 30-year-old right-hander, was Soto’s teammate until the Mets traded him to the Tampa Bay Rays on Aug. 2. He went 5-9 with a 4.99 ERA in 22 starts for New York, then turned his season around with a 3.25 ERA in 10 starts for Tampa Bay.
Against the Cleveland Guardians in the ALCS, he went 2-0 with a 0.75 ERA, nine strikeouts and one run allowed over 12 innings. He closed the series with 5 1/3 innings of one-run ball in a 7-3 win in Game 6 at Tropicana Field.
