Zimbabwe has named a 16-member squad for the upcoming ODI and T20I series against West Indies, with Chiedza Dhururu and Olinder Chare both returning to the national setup. The announcement was made on September 23, 2026, ahead of a series that begins with three ODIs at Harare Sports Club on September 24, September 27 and September 30.
Three T20Is will follow at Takashinga Cricket Club on October 3, October 5 and October 7. The ODI leg forms part of the ICC Women’s Championship.
Dhururu and Chare come into the squad in place of Lorraine Pemhiwa and Lindokuhle Mabhera, who have been left out. Loreen Tshuma is absent from the group due to injury. Josephine Nkomo continues as captain of the side.
Two players have been selected for one format each. Kudzai Chigora, aged 20, has been included for the ODI series only, while Francisca Chipare is part of the T20I squad alone.
When did Dhururu and Chare last appear for Zimbabwe?
Chiedza Dhururu last featured for Zimbabwe during the tour of New Zealand earlier in 2026. Her return to the squad adds to the options available to the side ahead of a demanding home assignment against West Indies.
Olinder Chare made her T20I debut during Zimbabwe’s tour of Pakistan in May 2026. Her selection for this series represents a further step in her development at the international level, having broken into the setup only a few months ago.
What is the broader context of Zimbabwe’s 2026 home series against West Indies?
Zimbabwe have maintained a packed international schedule through 2026, touring New Zealand and Pakistan before returning home to face South Africa. That South Africa series, which comprised five T20I matches, ran from September 11 to September 19, 2026. Nkomo led the side in those matches, having been appointed as Zimbabwe’s full-time captain after Mary-Anne Musonda stepped away from the role on retirement.

The West Indies series is Zimbabwe’s next home engagement, and the side is also scheduled to tour India for the first time next month. The three ODIs against West Indies carry particular significance given their contribution to the ICC Women’s Championship standings, making the series important beyond its bilateral context.
