Chelsea are gearing up for a frantic summer transfer window, with arrivals and departures at Stamford Bridge. Brazilian midfielder Andrey Santos will leave after a stunning season at the Ligue 1 side Strasbourg. The 20-year-old, on loan from Chelsea, has emerged as one of the best midfielders in the French league. The Brazilian youngster has emerged as one of the best players in his position across the French league. Moreover, Andrey Santos has also contributed to the goal involvements with 11 goals and 5 assists.

His displays have attracted the attention of Europe’s biggest clubs. PSG, Spurs, and Arsenal are all interested in his situation. Santos joined Chelsea from Vasco da Gama on January 2023 for a fee reportedly worth £12 million. But he hasn’t featured in a single competitive game for the Blues so far. He’s been loaned out since then, most recently to Strasbourg. The transfer proved to be successful. Strasbourg left-back Diego Moreira went so far as to describe Santos as “the best player in the world.”

Chelsea would like to bring Santos home to Stamford Bridge this summer at the minimum. He has a contract running until 2030, and Chelsea’s management is aware of his potential. Nevertheless, Chelsea must also factor Financial Fair Play into their plans. This could compel them to sell bright young stars in order to balance their books.

If Arsenal or PSG did make a big bid, Chelsea would have to seriously consider selling. Although selling one very highly valued young player to a Premier League competitor would be unpopular

Arsenal, on the other hand, look willing to sign him to the Emirates Stadium. Manager Mikel Arteta is currently making preparations for a dramatic summer shake-up. The Gunners want to finally put an end to their trophy drought this term. They have had a remarkable Champions League campaign that featured a 5-1 aggregate over champions Real Madrid. Arsenal are, however, set to become runners-up in the Premier League for the second consecutive season. Arteta is determined to drive his team over the line and has made his midfield a priority.

Veterans Partey and Jorginho are both potentially departing as free agents this summer, Arsenal are eyeing reinforcements. Martin Zubimendi is said to be close to joining, but Santos is being viewed as another long-term option.

Chelsea face a pivotal decision regarding Andrey Santos. His performances suggest he’s ready for the Premier League, and he could play a key role for the Blues. But the financial and squad pressures may compel Chelsea to part ways with one of their brightest young stars.

Selling Andrey Santos this summer to a direct competitor like Arsenal would be a big mistake for Chelsea.

The 20-year-old Brazilian has had a great year on loan at Strasbourg. He hasn’t just shown potential, but has delivered real results: 11 goals, 5 assists, and impressive defensive numbers in one of Europe’s best leagues. His mix of skill, physical presence, and goal threat from midfield is uncommon for someone his age.

Chelsea’s midfield may have big names like Enzo Fernández, Moisés Caicedo, and Roméo Lavia. However, having a deep squad isn’t a luxury. It’s a must with European games coming back. Andrey Santos brings something none of those players offer: goals from midfield and energy at both ends of the pitch.

Letting him go for money reasons might prove to be a grave mistake. Andrey Santos, with a deal until 2030, should get the chance to make his mark at Stamford Bridge.

The interest from Arsenal, PSG, and Strasbourg speaks volumes. We’re not talking about potential here, we’re looking at proven talent. If Chelsea want to build a long-term, youth-focused project, they can’t afford to let Santos go.
