The Black Starlets’ nationwide talent identification programme will continue in the Northern Region with a two-day scouting exercise scheduled for June 22 and 23, 2026, at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale.

The exercise, which forms part of preparations for Ghana’s next U-17 national team, will be led by coach Kassim Ocansey Mingle and his technical team as they continue their search for the country’s most promising young footballers.

Activities will commence at 9:00 a.m. on both days, with players expected to participate in a series of matches designed to provide the technical team with an opportunity to assess their abilities. The coaches will closely monitor the players’ technical skills, tactical awareness, physical attributes and overall potential as they seek to identify talents capable of progressing to the next stage of the selection process.

The scouting exercise is specifically targeted at players born in 2010 and 2011, who fall within the age category being considered for the next Black Starlets cycle. Talented young footballers from across the Northern Region are therefore encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to showcase their abilities before the national team selectors.

Players who distinguish themselves during the two-day programme will be shortlisted for the next phase of the screening exercise at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, where they will undergo further assessment.

The Northern Regional event follows successful scouting exercises in the Upper West and Upper East regions and underscores the Ghana Football Association’s commitment to ensuring that talented players from every corner of the country are given a pathway to national team football.

With the 2026 WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship on the horizon, coach Mingle and his technical team are working diligently to build a strong and competitive squad capable of restoring Ghana’s status among the continent’s elite youth football nations and qualifying for future continental and global tournaments.
