The Ghana Football Association held a safeguarding session for players and officials of the Black Starlets in preparation for the upcoming WAFU B U17 Boys Championship.

The session focused on creating awareness of the different forms of abuse that can occur in football, including physical, emotional, sexual and neglect. Players and officials were taken through how to recognise early warning signs of abuse and the importance of maintaining a safe and respectful environment at all times.

The session also highlighted the importance of reporting concerns, with emphasis on the Association’s confidential reporting channels that guarantee protection for those who come forward.

Speaking at the session, the GFA Safeguarding Officer, Obed Tuffour, reminded the players that their protection and wellbeing is a shared responsibility, stressing that the Association is committed to ensuring a safe environment where young footballers can grow, learn and excel without fear or harm.

This initiative reflects the GFA’s proactive approach to safeguarding, in line with FIFA and CAF standards, ensuring that the Black Starlets are well-prepared to represent Ghana both on and off the pitch.
