Ghana’s Black Satellites have safely arrived in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire, ahead of the 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship, as they step up preparations for the regional tournament that gets underway on Sunday, July 26.

Head coach Maxwell Konadu and his squad travelled to Côte d’Ivoire in high spirits after completing an intensive training programme in Accra, capped by a morale-boosting victory over Semper Fi in their final warm-up match.

With the team now settled in Yamoussoukro, attention shifts to the final phase of preparations. The Black Satellites are expected to hold their last training session on Saturday, where Konadu and his technical staff will fine-tune tactics and put the finishing touches on the squad ahead of their opening fixture.

Ghana will begin their Group B campaign against fierce rivals Nigeria on Monday, July 27, at the Lycée Scientifique de Yamoussoukro, in what promises to be one of the standout matches of the tournament.

The Black Satellites will continue their Group B campaign against Burkina Faso before concluding the first phase of the competition against Togo, with Maxwell Konadu’s men aiming to secure a place in the knockout stage and mount a serious challenge for the WAFU B U-20 Championship title.

The WAFU B U-20 Championship serves as the qualifying tournament for the 2027 TotalEnergies CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, which Ghana is set to host.
