Ghana’s U-20 national team, the Black Satellites, ramped up preparations on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, as they continued training ahead of the upcoming WAFU B U-20 Championship in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire.

Head coach Maxwell Konadu oversaw an intense training session at the University of Ghana Stadium Annex B, with the technical team fine-tuning tactics and sharpening the squad as the countdown to the regional tournament gathers pace.

The Black Satellites face a stern opening assignment against arch-rivals Nigeria in their Group B opener on Monday, July 27, at the Lycée Scientifique Stadium in Yamoussoukro. Kick-off is scheduled for 14:00 GMT (2pm local time).

Konadu’s side will then take on Burkina Faso on Thursday, July 30, at 18:00 GMT, before rounding off the group stage against Togo on Sunday, August 2, at the Stade CKB, with kick-off once again set for 14:00 GMT.

Ghana have been drawn in a highly competitive Group B alongside Nigeria, Burkina Faso and Togo, a pool widely expected to produce some of the tournament’s most fiercely contested matches.

The championship will bring together the seven member associations of WAFU Zone B, providing a platform for the region’s brightest young talents to compete for regional supremacy.

The tournament serves as the qualifying competition for the 2027 TotalEnergies CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, a tournament that Ghana is set to host.
