Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen is reportedly unhappy with his current situation and seeks a meeting with the club boss as well as president. The German custodian has been at the Camp Nou since the summer of 2015.

In 422 appearances across competitions, the Germany international has kept 175 clean sheets. However, that includes just one clean sheet in nine outings across competitions last season as Barca won the domestic treble. The lone shutout came in eight games in La Liga, where Hansi Flick’s side won their 28th title, dethroning arch-rivals Real Madrid.

Amid reports of the Blaugrana looking to sign Joan Garcia, Ter Stegen‘s long-term future at the club appears doubtful, and the German is least pleased with the situation, as his current deal runs till 2028.

Reportedly, Flick has told Garcia that he will be the club’s No. 1, ahead of Ter Stegen and Wojciech Szczesny. As per AS (via Barca Universal), a furious Ter Stegen arrived back at the club from international duty – where Germany lost 2-1 in the semi-finals to eventual UEFA Nations League winners Portugal.

He wants to meet boss Hansi Flick and president Joan Laporta as he seeks clarity on his club situation. It’s pertinent to note that Ter Stegen failed to keep clean sheets as hosts Germany lost to Portugal in the semis and 2-0 to France in the third-place match.

Barcelona are coming off a superb first season under new boss Hansi Flick, who arrived at the club’s helm last summer, succeeding the legendary Xavier Hernandez.

The former Bayern Munich and Germany tactician didn’t take much long to make his presence felt. Flick’s side won the La Liga, Supercopa Espana and Copa del Rey titles, beating Real Madrid in all four El Clasicos, including two finals, and taking his side to within a whisker of a place in the UEFA Champions League final.

The Blaugrana will now look forward to some well-earned rest as they seek for another successful domestic and continental campaign. It’s pertinent to note that Barca won’t be in action at the new-look FIFA Club World Cup in the United States this month, with Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid being the two Spanish representatives.

Outside Europe’s top five leagues, he follows the MLS following Lionel Messi’s move in 2023 but favors Cristiano Ronaldo in the G.O.A.T. debate. During his free time, Bhargav enjoys driving off to new places and singing.
