India have booked their place in the men’s cricket final at the Asian Games 2026 after producing a dominant performance against Sri Lanka in the second semi-final on Thursday, October 1.
Batting first, India posted 169/7, with Ishan Kishan leading the way with an unbeaten 80 off 46 balls. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi also made a valuable contribution, scoring 38 off 21 deliveries to help India set Sri Lanka a challenging target.
India’s bowlers then completed the job in emphatic fashion, bowling Sri Lanka out for just 45 in 9.5 overs. Jasprit Bumrah made an early impact with crucial wickets as the Sri Lankan batting lineup struggled against India’s disciplined bowling attack.
The win has taken India into the gold-medal match, where they will face arch-rivals Pakistan. Pakistan secured their place in the final after defeating Bangladesh in the first semi-final.
