The Black Starlets continued their impressive run of form in their build-up to the upcoming U17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Division One League side Attram De Visser SC. The friendly, played as part of the team’s intensive preparation schedule, showcased the Starlets’ growing confidence and tactical sharpness.

After a goalless first half, the Black Starlets returned from the break with renewed urgency and purpose. Just two minutes into the second half, Michael Awuli was brought down inside the penalty area in full view of the referee, who wasted no time in pointing to the spot. Skipper Joseph Narbi stepped up and calmly converted the penalty, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way to give Ghana the breakthrough.

Barely two minutes after the opener, winger Mark Aboagye outsmarted his marker with clever footwork before driving home a beautiful finish to double the lead. The quickfire goals underlined the team’s attacking intent and ability to punish defensive lapses.

Attram De Visser, however, refused to go down without a fight. With a few minutes remaining, they were awarded a penalty of their own, which Ntaniburon Wisdom converted to reduce the deficit. Despite the late consolation, the Starlets remained composed to see out the game and secure yet another morale-boosting victory in their pre-tournament campaign.

In the second game of the day, the Black Starlets’ second team suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat to Golden Kick FC. Adomba Kofi and Kelvin Amaleba were on target for Golden Kick, while Naff Sheriff pulled one back for the Starlets. The match provided valuable game time for squad players as the technical team continues to assess options ahead of the continental tournament.

With consistent performances and competitive friendlies sharpening their edge, the Black Starlets appear to be building momentum at the right time. The technical team will be encouraged by the fighting spirit and attacking efficiency displayed as preparations intensify for the U17 AFCON.
