The Black Starlets will intensify preparations for the upcoming U17 African Cup of Nations championship with two friendly matches scheduled for Wednesday morning at the Accra Sports Stadium between 8:00am and 12:00 noon.

The team will face Division One League sides Port City FC and Koforidua Semper Fi in a double-header friendlies aimed at sharpening tactics and assessing squad depth.

The friendlies form part of a structured buildup program designed by the technical team as they fine-tune strategies ahead of the U17 AFCON slated for April.

Dr. Prosper Nateh Ogum and his technical team are expected to rotate players across both matches to evaluate form, fitness levels, and tactical adaptability under match conditions.

The Starlets head into Wednesday’s encounters buoyed by positive results from earlier warm-up fixtures. They edged Na God FC 3–2 in a tightly contested game before following up with an entertaining 4–3 victory over True Democracy FC, performances that offered encouraging signs despite minor defensive lapses.

Head Coach Dr. Ogum believes facing competitive clubs provides the right balance of intensity and experimentation. Such matches allow the young talents to experience physical play and tactical discipline similar to what they may encounter on the continental stage, while also giving the staff an opportunity to test combinations in attack and defense.

With the AFCON fast approaching, the focus has now shifted from basic conditioning to match realism and psychological readiness.

Wednesday’s doubleheader is therefore expected to serve as one of the final assessment platforms before the squad is trimmed and finalized for the continental assignment.
