President of the Football Association, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, has met the Mayor of Tamale, Alhaji Adam Abubakari Takoro, to deliberate on matters of shared interest.

The engagement formed part of the President’s broader stakeholder consultations across the three Northern Regions, aimed at strengthening partnerships and accelerating football development at all levels.

During the meeting, President Simeon-Okraku expressed his sincere appreciation to the Mayor for the warm reception and the opportunity to engage on key developmental issues affecting the region.

He underscored the importance of collaborative partnership between the Football Association and local government authorities in driving grassroots football development. According to the GFA President, sustainable growth of the game, particularly at the youth level, requires coordinated efforts and shared responsibility.

President Simeon-Okraku also highlighted the pressing need to address the region’s infrastructure deficit, noting that access to quality playing surfaces and basic football facilities remains a major concern.

He appealed to the Mayor to use his office to champion improvements in sporting infrastructure, stressing that modern and accessible facilities are essential to nurturing talent, inspiring hope and creating opportunities for young people across the Northern Region.

The visit to the Tamale Mayor follows similar high-level engagements with key stakeholders in the Upper West and Upper East Regions, reinforcing the GFA’s commitment to inclusive dialogue and regional collaboration as part of its three-Northern Regions tour.

President Simeon-Okraku was accompanied by the Chairman of the Northern Regional Football Association, Alhaji Abu-Hassan Rhyzo, Chief of Staff, Michael Osekre; GFA Regional Football Coordinator, Daseebre Adu Asare, Dreams FC President, Jiji Alifoe Mohammed and Senior Communications Manager at the Office of the President, Patrick Akoto.
