Head Coach Otto Addo has met with Captain Jordan Ayew and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, as well as Brandon Thomas-Asante, ahead of this weekend’s M69 derby between Coventry City and Leicester City at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

The visit, which is part of a larger initiative to reach out to Black Stars players and share the technical team’s vision and that of the entire FA, coincides with the M69 derby – one of the longest rivalries in English football.

Brandon Thomas-Asante, who has scored 10 league goals and registered 3 assists in 17 league matches, is a doubt for the game following a minor hamstring injury, while Jordan Ayew and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku are in pole position for a starting place following their outstanding performances in recent weeks.

Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has scored 5 goals and made 7 assists in 24 league matches this season, while Jordan Ayew has 3 assists and 5 goals in 24 league matches.

The M69 derby is a football match played between Coventry City and Leicester City, named after the motorway that connects the two cities, which are only 24 miles (38 km) apart. Coventry and Leicester’s traditional rivals have historically been considered to be Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest, respectively. However, the fixture has gained significance between 2001 and 2011, with both clubs’ traditional rivals often being in a different league. According to a survey by The Football Pools published in 2008, this fixture is the 26th fiercest rivalry in English football.

Otto Addo has already visited Abdul Mumin, Mohammed Kudus, Kwasi Sibo, Ernest Nuamah, and Mohammed Salisu as part of his quest to build a strong team culture and solidarity on and off the field.
