The two Premier League sides come face-to-face against each other on New Year’s Eve, having fought their way through to this stage of the competition. The Blues qualified for this stage after beating Zone One B leaders Debibi United 2-1, while Young Apostles went past Dormaa Unity in the Round of 64.
Berekum Chelsea are 14th in the Ghana Premier League table with 18 points, three points behind Young Apostles, who are 9th in the table after 16 league matches. With a place in the Round of 16 up for grabs, this all-Premier League clash promises to be thrilling at the Golden City Park.
At the Nsenkyire Arena at Samareaboi, FC Samartex 1996 have a date with third-tier side Debiso Soccer Lions after eliminating Sekondi Eleven Wise 2-0 in the previous round.
2023 champions, Dreams FC, have been phenomenal in the ongoing championship following a 2-1 win over Semper FI in the Round of 64. Elsewhere, Premier League side Nations FC will lock horns with FC AshantiGold ’04 at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.
Winners of this round will qualify for the Round of 16 of the championship.
Earlier on Tuesday, Attram De Visser progressed to the Round of 16 after beating Port City 4-2 on penalties following a goalless draw in regulation time. Attram De Visser, who made a semifinal appearance last season, are bent on making yet another impressive run in the Cup competition.
