Premier League: Hearts back to winning ways, Aduana shine on the road, Bechem United break winless run

Matchday Six of the  Premier League produced renewed momentum for some of the league’s powerhouses, with Hearts of Oak keeping pace at the top, Aduana FC rediscovering their away form and Bechem United finally breaking their winless spell, the race for supremacy is heating up fast.

Berekum Chelsea 0-2 Hearts of Oak

Hearts of Oak returned to winning ways with a commanding 2-0 victory over Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park, ending a two-game winless run and maintaining their unbeaten start to the season.

The Phobians, who came into the fixture unbeaten in their last nine meetings with Chelsea, extended that impressive record with a disciplined and efficient performance.

After a tightly contested first half, Hearts found the breakthrough in the 62nd minute when a dangerous corner caused confusion in the Chelsea box. Hamza Issah reacted quickest, steering the ball home with precision to give the visitors a deserved lead.

In stoppage time, Mawuli Wayo put the result beyond doubt, calmly slotting home a rebound after a header had struck the post in the 92nd minute.

The win lifts Hearts of Oak to third place on the league table with three wins and three draws, just one point behind the leaders. For Berekum Chelsea, the defeat halts their brief revival following a win and a draw in their previous two outings.

Coach Didi Dramani will be delighted with the display, especially as it marks the first time this season his side has scored twice in a single match. Hearts will return to Accra to face Bibiani Gold Stars, while Chelsea have an outstanding midweek fixture against the same opponent before visiting Young Apostles.

Hohoe United 0-2 Aduana FC

Aduana FC ended their seven-game winless run on the road with a convincing 2-0 victory over Hohoe United at the Hohoe Sports Stadium, delivering a statement performance away from home.

After a cagey opening half, Mezack Afriyie broke the deadlock in the 64th minute, pouncing on a loose ball in the box and firing a low drive beyond the goalkeeper.

Despite going down to ten men after Raymond Agyemang’s red card in the 86th minute, the Ogya Boys stood firm. Their resilience was rewarded deep into stoppage time when Emmanuel Marfo finished off a swift counterattack to seal all three points — his fourth goal of the campaign.

The result marked Aduana’s first away victory of the season, lifting their spirits after a difficult start on the road. For Hohoe United, their two-game winning streak came to a disappointing end in front of their home fans.

Bechem United 2-0 Vision FC

Bechem United finally secured their first win of the 2025/26 season with a hard-fought 2-0 triumph over Vision FC at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park on Sunday.

After a balanced first half that ended goalless, the Hunters came alive after the break. Yaw Acheampong broke the deadlock in the 67th minute, before Alhassan Razak doubled the advantage just three minutes later to cap off a dominant spell.

The result lifts Bechem United off the foot of the table, though they remain in the lower half of the standings. For Vision FC, the defeat ends their momentum after a recent win, as they now look ahead to a tough away trip to Berekum Chelsea. Bechem will travel to Karela United seeking back-to-back wins for the first time this campaign.

Swedru All Blacks 2-0 Basake Holy Stars

Swedru All Blacks snapped their three-game losing streak in style with a commanding 2-0 victory over Basake Holy Stars in their Week 6 Premier League match at the Swedru Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Benjamin Adjei opened the scoring in the 6th minute, calmly slotting home after a swift attacking move that sliced through the Holy Stars’ defence.

All Blacks maintained their momentum after the break and doubled their lead in the 49th minute, as Hafiz Alhassan reacted quickest to a loose ball inside the penalty area to make it 2-0 and effectively seal the points.

The home side dominated proceedings, enjoying 59% possession and creating several chances — registering 13 total shots, with six on target. Holy Stars struggled to find rhythm throughout, managing just four shots, only one of which forced a save from the goalkeeper.

Despite a late push, the visitors , who were reduced to ten men, could not recover as the Black and White secured a deserved and much-needed win in front of their fans.

The result lifts Swedru All Blacks out of their recent slump and provides a confidence boost ahead of their next tough fixture away to Medeama SC. Basake Holy Stars, meanwhile, will aim to regroup quickly when they travel to face Heart of Lions in their upcoming match.
