Legon Cities will begin their Access Bank Division One League journey on Sunday as they take on Wamanafo Mighty Royals in the opening weekend of the competition. The Royals, who finished 17th in the Ghana Premier League last season with 25 points after 34 matches, suffered relegation alongside Accra Lions and Nsoatreman FC.
Legon Cities aims to secure a quick return to the Premier League but will face stiff competition in Zone One B before advancing to the playoffs against the winner of Zone One A.
Another former Premier League side, Berekum Arsenal, returns to the second tier two years after dropping to the second division. Arsenal travels to Dormaa to face Dormaa Unity on Monday, while Techiman Liberty Youth clashes with Debibi United in another exciting matchup.
In Zone One A, last season’s finalists Real Tamale United kicks off their season with a home fixture against Sankara United at the Aliu Mahama Stadium.
Returnees Bolga All Stars have a date with Tamale City at the Kurt E.S Okraku Sports Complex at Winkogo, while Northern City opens their season with a home match against TF Exponential on Friday.
