Ghana’s Black Princesses got off to a winning start in their FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifier against Tunisia, securing a 2-0 victory in the first leg.

The match got off to a promising start for Ghana, as Mercy Attobrah scored in the 4th minute, giving the team an early lead. Midfielder Sarah Nyarko had a golden opportunity to double the lead with a solo effort, but her shot was expertly parried away by the Tunisian goalkeeper. Despite Ghana’s relentless surges forward, Tunisia held their ground, and the teams went into halftime with Ghana maintaining a slender 1-0 advantage.

Ghana came out strong in the second half, creating an early chance, but Mercy Attobrah’s effort was unfortunately ruled offside. However, Attobrah made amends when she finally found the back of the net after a precise through pass from Linda Owusu Ansah on the left wing, doubling Ghana’s lead and sealing the win for the Black Princesses.

The second leg is scheduled to take place on September 28, 2025, at the Accra Sports Stadium. A strong performance in the second leg would see Ghana cruise into the next stage of the qualifiers.
