The Ghana Premier League is back, bringing exciting statistics after matchday one. Nine matches were played, resulting in four home wins, two away wins, and three draws. Notably, this season has seen an improvement in away performance compared to last season, where the first goal was recorded in matchday four. A total of 11 goals were scored, with home teams netting six and away teams scoring five, accompanied by three penalties.

The winners of matchday one includes Medeama SC, Gold Stars, Nations FC, Heart of Lions, Karela United, and Asante Kotoko. Currently, 12 teams remain unbeaten, while six teams have lost their fixtures.

Some key facts stand out: Samuel Attah Kumi of Gold Stars became the first player to score a goal and record a brace in the league. In the same game, Bechem United’s Dalvin Yeboah scored the first away goal.

Asante Kotoko’s win against Berekum Chelsea marked their first victory at the Golden City Park since 2010 and their first away league win in 2025. Additionally, Albert Amoah scored for Asante Kotoko in week one of both the 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons.

Furthermore, Solomon Adomako of Hohoe United received the first red card in the league, in the 66th minute against Hearts of Oak. Nations FC achieved the first comeback win, defeating Swedru All Blacks 2-1 after conceding the opening goal.
