The Ghana Football Association (GFA) on Wednesday July 23, 2025, convened a meeting with executives of the 18 Premier League clubs to review the just-ended 2024/25 season and chart a forward-looking path for the 2025/26 campaign.

The meeting was spearheaded by General Secretary, Prosper Harrison Addo. The session served as a reflective and collaborative platform for stakeholders to analyze the performance of the league, address existing challenges and propose innovative strategies aimed at improving the overall competitiveness and commercial appeal of the Premier League.

Discussions covered a broad range of topics including league regulations, marketing and communications, television rights, officiating standards and matchday protocols. Stakeholders also examined the operational elements of the past season such as club licensing, regulatory compliance, the FIFA Connect system and the Competitions Management System (CMS).

The leadership of the Football Association welcomed candid feedback from club executives, which will inform policy and operational decisions ahead of the new season.

President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku expressed his appreciation to the clubs for their role in delivering a competitive and eventful 2024/25 season. He praised the spirit of the competition, particularly the high stakes and intensity witnessed in the closing stages of the league.

“I want to thank all of you for taking time out of your busy schedules to participate in this important meeting. We are here to reflect on what we achieved collectively last season and what we can do better moving forward,” said President Simeon-Okraku.

He congratulated Bibiani Gold Stars for clinching the Premier League title, lauding their remarkable achievement during a fiercely contested season. At the same time, he extended words of encouragement to the relegated clubs, urging them to regroup, reorganize, and strive for a swift return to the top flight. He further urged all clubs to uphold the integrity of the game and to use the appropriate channels to voice concerns, reinforcing the importance of safeguarding the image and credibility of the Ghana Premier League.

The President emphasized the need for strict adherence to enhanced matchday protocols and highlighted newly updated regulations, including, medical regulations, revised Premier League regulation, Academy regulation and a standardized player contract amongst others.  These, he stated, are all geared toward enhancing professionalism and strengthening governance within the league.

Additionally, President Simeon-Okraku unveiled components of a revamped television model aimed at delivering greater value to fans through enhanced entertainment features. He also mentioned the rollout of the “Power to the Youth” policy, an initiative designed to harness and develop young talent across the country.

The 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season is officially set to kick off on September 12, 2025. Ahead of that, the Football Association will host its annual Congress on August 12, 2025, where key decisions will be ratified, regulations approved, and preparations formally concluded for the new season.
