Tottenham Hotspur are prepared to beat Manchester United to the signature of Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo in an interesting twist, as per reports. The Cameroonian forward appears to be headed to Old Trafford, having expressed his desire to join the Red Devils this summer.

The Sun reports that Tottenham could accelerate their interest in the 25-year-old forward following the decision to sack Ange Postecoglou. They will look to land Brentford manager Thomas Frank, and hope that he can convince Mbeumo to follow him to North London.

Danish tactician Frank is Spurs’ first-choice to take over from Postecoglou and talks are taking place to secure a deal for the tactician, who has a £10 million compensation clause in his deal. If he manages to convince his Cameroonian star, Spurs will pay the £60 million asking fee of Brentford, taking their total outlay to £70 million.

Manchester United have had a bid of £50 million rejected for Bryan Mbeumo in recent days as they look to wrap up a second signing of the window. The forward will receive a significant pay rise to move away from Brentford, a possibility Tottenham are prepared to accept.

Tottenham Hotspur hope their qualification for the UEFA Champions League ahead of Manchester United can help sway Mbeumo to join them. The forward is intent on playing for the Red Devils and has said a firm yes to them, but the influence of Thomas Frank may prove key to his future.

Manchester United have maintained their resolve to sell star forward Alejandro Garnacho this summer, as per Fabrizio Romano. The Argentine youngster was advised to find a new club by head coach Ruben Amorim before the final Premier League game of the season against Aston Villa last month.

Garnacho complained of his substitute role in the UEFA Europa League final last month, hinting that he may leave the club this summer. Amorim responded quickly and asked the 20-year-old to find a new club, leaving him out of the squad for their league finale. The youngster featured in their post-season friendlies but Romano has now confirmed that there are no plans to keep him.

Napoli and Atletico Madrid may return for the young forward, having made attempts to sign him in the January transfer window. He is also a player of interest to Bayer Leverkusen, where ex-Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is now in charge.
