31st Congress: GFA reaffirms comprehensive support to Regional Football Associations
SHARE

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has reiterated its commitment to strengthening the operations and impact of the Regional Football Associations (RFAs) by maintaining and expanding the strategic support packages implemented in recent years.

This sustained investment is aimed at empowering RFAs to enhance grassroots football development, improve governance structures and expand opportunities for players, coaches, and officials across the country.

Through its partnership with FIFA under the FIFA Forward Program, the GFA will once again invest US$100,000 in the procurement of footballs to support grassroots football nationwide. This initiative will benefit Division Two (D2), Division Three (D3), and the Women’s Division One League (WDoL), ensuring that all tiers of the game are adequately equipped to conduct training and competitive matches.

The Football Association will give monthly subsidies to the RFAs to support administrative and operational costs. The Monthly allowances will continue for RFA Chairmen and Vice-Chairmen, recognising their leadership role in football development at the regional level.

In a major step towards advancing girls’ football, the GFA will allocate GHS 80,000 to each RFA to organise an 8-club U-15 Girls League for the 2025/26 season. This initiative aims to strengthen the pathway for young female players, providing them with structured competition and development opportunities at the regional and national levels.

To ease the financial burden on regional competitions and ensure match officiating standards are upheld, the GFA will continue to contribute to the payment of referees’ fees at the RFA level. An allocation of GHS 300,000 has been earmarked for this purpose in the upcoming season.

By sustaining these measures, the Football Association is ensuring that the RFAs are well-resourced to drive football growth in their respective jurisdictions.

President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku emphasised that this support is a long-term commitment to the future of the sport.

“Our Regional Football Associations are the heartbeat of Ghana football. By empowering them with the resources and support they need, we are building a stronger, more competitive and more inclusive game that benefits every community in the country.”

With this continued partnership between the GFA and RFAs, grassroots football in Ghana is set for another year of growth, talent discovery, and increased participation.
