Former India fast bowler Zaheer Khan has been appointed as the head coach by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ahead of the 2027 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Zaheer has replaced Stephen Fleming, who relieved his position after 18 years, having been their head coach from the 2009 season onwards.
Zaheer opened up and shared, sounding absolutely delighted to be welcomed at the Chennai-based franchise in a key role for their backroom staff. Zaheer will now reunite with his former India teammate and legendary cricketer, MS Dhoni. Zaheer was the trusted bowler for the former India captain in the 2011 World Cup, as he ended as the tournament’s joint-highest wicket-taker with 21 scalps, playing a vital role in the victory.
“It’s an honour to be a part of one of the most successful teams in the history of the IPL. As a cricketer, I have faced CSK on the field and have thoroughly enjoyed the contests. The atmosphere created by the Superfans at Chepauk make it even more special. I can’t wait to join the legacy franchise with such a rich history,” Zaheer said in an official statement.

We are confident that his guidance will help strengthen the core of this franchise,” owner of the side Rupa Gurunath expressed her excitement at Zaheer’s arrival to the CSK set-up.
“Zaheer is a world class bowler and has been a mentor to many young cricketers, especially fast bowlers, over the years.
