FC AshantiGold ended their X1 DOL Super Cup Group B campaign with a 2-0 victory over Tamale City, but the result was not enough to earn them a place in the semi-finals.
The two Group B matches were played simultaneously on Saturday afternoon, with AshantiGold facing Tamale City at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium, while Nsuopon Fidelity took on Semper Fi at OforiKrom Park.
AshantiGold opened the scoring in the 36th minute through Frederick Twumasi, who registered the club’s first goal of the competition. Faroq sealed the victory in the 89th minute with a second goal.
Despite securing a comfortable victory, AshantiGold’s four points were not enough to see them through to the next stage.
At OforiKrom Park, Semper Fi secured a narrow 1-0 win over Nsuopon Fidelity, with Francis Eshun scoring the only goal of the game in the 49th minute. The result lifted Semper Fi to the top of Group B with five points.
Nsuopon Fidelity finished second with four points and advanced to the semi-finals on goal difference, while AshantiGold also ended on four points but were eliminated. Tamale City finished bottom of the group with two points.
Semper Fi and Nsuopon Fidelity will therefore represent Group B in the semi-finals, while AshantiGold and Tamale City bring their X1 DOL Super Cup campaigns to an end.
