Black Stars Technical Advisor Winfried Schaefer has paid a visit to Dreams FC as part of his duties with the Ghana Football Association.

The Still Believe lads will host Accra Hearts of Oak at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Complex on Monday in a Ghana Premier League Matchday 2 fixture.

Schaefer, who guided Cameroon to the 2002 Africa Cup of Nations title, interacted with the club’s coaches and players, aiming to inspire them ahead of the game against the Phobians.

The former Cameroon coach, appointed as Technical Advisor of the Black Stars in January, is tasked with providing technical guidance, supporting football development in Ghana, and working with the Technical Directorate on long-term strategic planning.

He made similar visits to Hohoe United and Accra Hearts of Oak before the season opener at the Accra Sports Stadium and will embark on many more such visits to inspire players and coaches in our quest to give the Ghana Premier League the needed attention and facelift it deserves.

“Last week, I told the players of Hearts of Oak and Hohoe United that they equally have a chance with the Black Stars, and it’s the same message that I gave the players of Dreams FC today,” Schaefer told ghanafa.org.

“All our foreign players played in Ghana at some point, so it’s our responsibility to motivate them to fight to the top. We have many top players playing in Europe, but our goalkeeper is a local and was fantastic on Monday. I’ll continue to visit the clubs and use someone like Benjamin Asare as a role model and also to inform them that they all have a chance to play for the Black Stars team,” he said.

The 2025/26 Ghana Premier League enters Matchday 2 on Friday, with former champions Medeama SC taking on Vision FC at the T&A Park. Dreams FC, which lost 1-0 to Kpando Heart of Lions on the opening weekend, will host Accra Hearts of Oak on Monday, September 22, 2025.
