Pat Murphy does not describe William Contreras as an easy player to coach. Despite this, he admits that the catcher was a big reason the Milwaukee Brewers won their first World Series title.
The Brewers beat the Tampa Bay Rays 4-1 in Game 5 at Tropicana Field on Oct. 28, and Contreras took the Willie Mays World Series MVP trophy after hitting .381 and guiding a staff to a 1.91 ERA.
Asked about reaching players, Murphy described the catcher’s personality plainly.
