Former domestic cricketer Rachit Bhatia has been named in a Tehelka undercover investigation into an alleged cricket fixing network, marking the latest and most serious controversy to engulf the ex-Ranji Trophy player. The report places Bhatia at the centre of a scheme involving the Delhi Premiere League, where he allegedly served as a middleman between a fake bookie and a Central Delhi Kings player, offering to share playing XI information ahead of official announcements in return for payment.
According to the Tehelka investigation, Bhatia promised to supply the playing XI for all 10 Central Delhi Kings matches in the DPL. The report highlights this practice as ‘line-up leaks’, a form of fixing in which team composition details are passed to bookmakers before public disclosure, allowing bets to be placed on the basis of that advance knowledge. The Tehelka exposé identifies line-up leaks as an emerging method within cricket’s fixing ecosystem, distinct from conventional spot-fixing or result manipulation.
The allegations stretch well beyond the DPL. Bhatia reportedly offered to facilitate spot-fixing across both the IPL and the DPL. In a separate report published by CricTracker on September 22 2026, Bhatia claimed he earned Rs 3 crore by fixing five IPL matches in 2025 through inside information about Chennai Super Kings, receiving Rs 60 lakh for each match fixed.

What did Bhatia claim about his earlier fixing activity?
Bhatia told the Tehelka operative that he had engaged in spot-fixing during the 2018-19 Mushtaq Ali Trophy, claiming he received Rs 16 lakh from bookmakers in exchange for bowling two deliberate wide balls. He further alleged that he paid a bribe to secure his place in the Ranji Trophy squad during that same 2018-19 season. Both claims originate from the Tehelka undercover recording and have not been independently verified by CricTracker.
Bhatia also told the operative that he was working as a national selector and coach, identifying players from Delhi schools for national school cricket tournaments. The scope and legitimacy of this role have not been independently confirmed. Taken together, the claims paint a picture of a cricketer who allegedly leveraged access to multiple levels of the domestic game — from school cricket to the IPL — to facilitate fixing arrangements.
Who is Rachit Bhatia and what is his domestic cricket record?
Rachit Bhatia, born on September 7, 1997, is 29 years old as of writing. He represented Nagaland in domestic cricket, operating as a right-hand batsman and right-arm medium-pace bowling all-rounder. His first-class record across six matches and eight innings reads 70 runs with the bat and 13 wickets with the ball at an average of 23.00, with a best bowling return of 6/44. His domestic career was therefore modest in statistical terms, making the scale of the fixing allegations attributed to him all the more striking.
The current status of any ICC or BCCI investigation into the allegations surfaced by the Tehelka report remains unconfirmed. CricTracker will continue to follow this story as further details emerge.
