One of badminton’s biggest tournaments, the Thomas & Uber Cup, is currently taking place in Horsens, Denmark. The league stage will come to an end on April 29, and the knockout stage will begin on April 30.

The top eight teams from each tournament will advance to the quarter-finals and compete further for the coveted title on May 3rd.

China and Denmark from Group A, along with Japan and Malaysia from Group B, have qualified for the quarter-finals of the 2026 Uber Cup.

The other two groups will be concluded on Tuesday, but Chinese Taipei, Indonesia from Group C and South Korea and Thailand from Group D have already booked their spots in the last 8.

The Indian contingent at the Uber Cup, led by P.V. Sindhu, featuring a mix of experienced campaigners and rising stars, had a disappointing campaign in the tournament.

The squad included Unnati Hooda, Tanvi Sharma, Devika Sihag, Isharani Baruah, and the doubles players like Tanisha Crasto, Kavipriya Selvam, Priya Konjengbam, Shruti Mishra and Simran Singhi.

India started their campaign with a close 2-3 loss against the host nation. They then registered a strong 4-1 win against Ukraine, which gave the team a boost and kept their hopes alive in the group stage.

However, their campaign came to an end after a loss against China in their final group match. Despite PV Sindhu’s efforts, the team suffered a 0-5 defeat.

This result led to India’s exit in the group stage of the Uber Cup 2026, their worst result of the tournament over the past eight years.

On the other hand, the Indian men’s team confirmed the spot in the quarter-finals with their second consecutive group win against Australia on Monday.
